Two country singer-songwriters on one stage for an amazing night of original music from Sydney Shoemaker & Hunter Blalock
Sydney Shoemaker was born in and raised in south Georgia. Her roots run deep underneath the pines of the south and my voice dances through them. It echoed outward when she came into the world in January of 2003; she’s, thus since, spent her life searching for it.
Sydney says:
I have sang since the day I was born. Maybe it was more like a loud cry- but who knows, right? Growing up was no easy feat for me. Though, music was there for me since the beginning. When times were hard I often drowned out the world, listening to songs repeatedly until I learned them inside out. I remember, even at a very young age, getting very fixated, a bit obsessive, and emotional over certain songs. When I found a song that I related with I suddenly didn’t feel so alone and overshadowed by everything going on in life. I felt like somehow, someway this song was meant to find me because I had prayed so hard for a friend. A friend that could understand- and suddenly, this song told me everything I ever wanted to hear. What a feeling, to have music as a friend. As I got older I began to slowly understand the big emotions I always felt but couldn’t figure them out enough to put into words. In my head, there was always this giant storm. Writing songs was more than an escape for me- it saved my life.
It has been a struggle trying to figure out who I am and who I want to be. However, one thing I always knew about myself is how much I have always loved older, classic country. My music is heavily influenced by many great artist before me such as Loretta Lynn, Tanya Tucker, Kitty Wells, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. Though I could never live up to the mark they left behind on Traditional country, Honky – Tonk, and Folk music – I like to help keep their sound alive.
Music is a universal language that is communicated by everyone and everything in some shape or form. I find that to be incredibly beautiful. Especially in trying times – where we start to shy away from our neighbors. We disconnect from others and keep our distance. We turn our backs on one another. Music is something I hope, I know, can bring people together in such a beautiful and special way. Especially for that kid in their room who feels like there’s no way out. I hope my music can do for them and for others what my musical influences did for me. On days where I ask myself “ It is even worth it? “ I think about the world today and how much it has drastically changed. How it will keep changing. There is still so much to fight for and bringing each other together through writing my songs, my stories, is what keeps me going. We are closer to each other than we all might realize. We just have to be willing to really listen. Music asks that of people. My songwriting asks that of me.
Hunter Blalock is a songwriter who doesn’t shy away from the heavy stuff. With a well worn pen, a beat-up guitar, and a voice that feels like late nights on the road, he writes songs that say the things most people are afraid to. His music digs into the raw, real parts of life. The quiet battles, the heartbreaks, the unspoken truths, offering connection in places where silence usually lives.
Proudly from Northwest Georgia, Hunter carries the grit, grace, and storytelling spirit of home into everything he does. The place, its people, its stillness, its struggles, shaped him as both an artist and a person.
He’s been touring for years, carving out a space on stages big and small, and building a humble following one honest song at a time. His debut record, Cherokee Hills, released in November 2024, captures that spirit—stories wrapped in melody, meant to meet people where they are.
In 2025, he followed it up with The Ear Bonez Sessions, a live EP recorded in Athens, Georgia. Tracked in a side room, in real time, the project leans into the grit and intimate nature of his performances. No polish to hide behind, no walls between the songs and the listener, just the sound of a writer and the weight of the words. It’s a snapshot of who he is on stage. Unfiltered, present, and fully committed to the moment.
Hunter doesn’t chase fame, he chases truth. Whether it’s a dim-lit venue or the corner of a dive, his songs carry a kind of quiet gravity, and find you when you need them most.
