Award Winning Songwriters, Jonathan Byrd | Banjii & Mayuri LIVE at Canopy + the Roots
August 12, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
For over twenty years, Jonathan Byrd made his living writing, recording, publishing, and licensing my own songs. He’s won awards- his personal favorite being the Kerrville New Folk award in 2003 with fellow winners Anais Mitchell, writer of the multiple Tony Awards® winning “Hadestown”, and Colin Brooks of the Band of Heathens- and he has been covered by great artists like Sam Bush, Larry Keel, and Red Molly.
He still just wants to write the next great song. He wants to be knocked over by songs, talk about songs, take them apart, rewrite them and figure out how they work. That’s why he loves teaching- because I learn so much.
Anyone can write songs. The desire to do it IS the talent. If you want to write songs, he can teach you how

“I’m the little guy, by the way. He had big dreams, and he made it. Now I’ve got another big dream. I want to hear YOUR song.” -Jonathan Byrd
