SUMMARY:An Evening with Indie-Folk Artist\, Eliot Bronson\, LIVE at Canopy + the Roots
DESCRIPTION:Get tickets HERE. \n\nOver the course of five albums\, indie folk singer Eliot Bronson has created his own brand of acclaimed Americana. He’s an award-winning songwriter\, a road warrior\, and an internationally-renowned musician with a voice that swoons and sweeps\, championed by everyone from The Baltimore Sun — who’ve hailed him as “a folk singing wunderkind”— to Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb\, whose work on 2014’s Eliot Bronson and 2017’s James placed Bronson on the same client roster as Jason Isbell\, Chris Stapleton\, and other heartfelt songwriters. \nHe turns a new page with 2020’s Empty Spaces\, a breakup album for the romantics and realists among us. Written after a split from his fiancé and a move from Atlanta to Nashville\, Empty Spaces pairs sharply-written songs about loss\, leaving\, and redemption with quietly cinematic arrangements rooted in electric guitars\, vocal harmonies\, strings\, and Mellotron. Co-produced by Bronson and longtime bandmate Will Robertson\, Empty Spaces shines a light on Eliot Bronson at his most compelling\, punctuating the woozy warmth of “Visitor\,” the heartland pop/rock of “With Somebody\,” and all points in between with the sharpest writing of his career. This isn’t just a record about empty spaces\, after all. It’s a record about the new discoveries that can fill the void. \nGet tickets HERE.

SUMMARY:Scott Low and Betsy Franck :: Original Americana Singer-Songwriters LIVE in the Roots
DESCRIPTION:Americana-Blues-Jazz from singer-songwriters\, Scott Low and Betsy Franck\n\nPurchase tickets HERE. \nScott Low sings songs about things he knows. Since moving from 150-200 shows a year and Athens GA\, Low has founded a fly fishing art music camp\, Hatch Camp and Art Farm. But Scott still sings songs in the American Folk tradition with a touch of Country and Appalachia performing solo or with his band\, The Southern Bouillon. \nWith a wide ranging background stretching from jazz to punk to southern rock\, Low pulls from the things that have shaped him. From Townes and Dylan to Miles and Zappa. But what comes out on stage is an intense rendering of original songs (and a few choice covers). In the summer of 2016\, Scott released THE NEW VINTAGE\, a 2+ year project of songs that fell into the net of Americana/Country and followed it with extensive touring. A more folk album came next with 2018’s BURNING TIRES\, SMOKING GUNS. Then 2020 and Covid brought THE SOUTHERN BOUILLON LIVE. \nInitial comparisons to Jamey Johnson\, Ryan Bingham\, and Hayes Carll have been written by the more Americana press\, but there are touches of Tom Waits\, and Nina Simone that linger in the shadows. \nOver the years Scott has shared the tour stage/road with Jason Isbell\, Chris Stapleton\, Caleb Caudle\, Aaron Lee Tasjan\, Sammy Kershaw\, Shovels & Rope\, Chris Knight\, and many more. For this special performance\, Scott will be performing with his full band.\n \nPlease support original music and culture. And\, please look for Scott Low music and shows near you! \n———————- \nBetsy Franck is a soulful Americana Blues singer\, songwriter\, guitarist\, house concert throwing\, people-connector. Most recently settling in the North GA mountains\, Betsy spent four years in Nashville TN\, and over a decade in Athens\, GA.\, performing and recording (5) studio albums. Franck has shared the stage with a long list of musical favorites from many different genres like Loretta Lynn\, Lucinda Williams\, and John Popper to St. Paul & the Broken Bones\, Bobby Keyes\, and Ray Wylie Hubbard. She has released a collection of singles on her EP entitled “Words”. They can be found on her website www.betsyfranck.com. \nThis year Betsy has begun to tour more than she has over the past decade\, playing solo shows\, full band shows\, and touring with Athens\, GA based rock band “Bloodkin”. She continues to write and is currently putting together material for her next album. \nIn addition to playing her own music and lending her gospel strong vocals to various projects\, she continues to pour energy into keeping live music at the forefront of her efforts through intimate small gatherings called BFranckProductions\, that focus on food\, music and how to bring assistance and awareness to various nonprofit organizations. \nWhether you catch a full band show\, or one of Betsy’s lyrically enchanting solo sets\, you will not be disappointed as this performer embodies impassioned performance at its best. \n

SUMMARY:TALL TALL Trees : Banjo Funk Americana LIVE at Canopy + the Roots
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets HERE. Save LIVE MUSIC Culture. \nTall Tall Trees is the pseudonym of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mike Savino. Moving to New York in the early aughts with aspirations of being a bassist in the city’s vibrant jazz and experimental music scene\, Savino soon switched his focus to banjo and writing songs\, resulting in the eponymous 2009 debut\, Tall Tall Trees. In the decade since\, Savino has toured non-stop\, pioneering a world of psychedelic electric banjo music\, captivating audiences withhis loop-based one man shows\, as well as alongside frequent collaborator\, Kishi Bashi. \nA Wave of Golden Things\, his fourth studio album\, opens with the distant crow of a rooster and takes off in a dust cloud of swirling banjo\, drums and bass. The lead off track\, “The Wind\, She Whispers\,” quickly evolves from a droning mountain melody into full-blown banjo funk\, setting the precedent for an album of unexpected turns. Though the banjo is heavily featured\, the influence of Pink Floyd\, and Cat Stevens can be felt as much as banjo mavericks Earl Scruggs\, and Bela Fleck.Savino\, who self-records and produces his music\, abandoned the heavily-layered textures of 2017’s Freedays for a more organic\, stripped-down approach\, leaving his distinct voice and thoughtful lyrics as the centerpiece. \nDespite the sparse arrangements\, Savino still manages to evoke the sonic imagery and pastoral landscapes that have often been hallmarks of Tall Tall Trees albums. Each of the eight songs that make up A Wave of Golden Things suggest a world unto itself\, from the cosmic country-tinged\, “Ask Me Again\,” to the sprawling underwater lullaby “Deep Feels.”Opting for an immersive experience over a traditional studio\, Savino set up residence and a mobile recording rig on ahemp farm in the Appalachian mountains outside of Asheville\, North Carolina\, where he now resides. Recorded injust under three weeks\, with much of it arranged on the spot\, the album maintains a sense of immediacy\, celebratingraw performance over perfection. “I’m giving up on my expectations\, let them go and see where it takes us\,” Savinosings on “Expectations\,” almost seeming to revel in this experimental process.Savino’s voice\, left unadorned\, can be simultaneously gentle and strong\, at times sage-like in delivery. On thealbum’s closing title track “A Wave of Golden Things\,” his soft spoken meditations on mental health reflect a newmaturity in his song craft and singing. As the song develops\, Savino’s voice gains confidence and his whisperbecomes a fragile cry\, neither full-throated nor fully secure\, but at home in a warm bed of upright piano and echoingtape delay. \n“We all need a little peace and love right now\,” he sings as if he’s at the end of his breath. \nReflective of the dark and challenging times of today\, Savino’s message is ultimately one of hope and finding peace of mind in the chatter of the modern world. The last chorus reaches towards a transcendent beauty in the darkness\,and makes a promise: “a wave of golden things\, it waits for you.”

SUMMARY:The Plate Scrapers :: Progressive Bluegrass LIVE at Canopy + the Roots
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets HERE. \nThe Plate Scrapers are a dynamic\, progressive bluegrass band from Berryville\, VA. As classic as cast iron\, as space-age as a flying car. The Plate Scrapers are serving up their own flavor of bluegrass by way of a winding wormhole through folk\, jazz\, and rock dimensions. Their latest studio album\, “Destination Horizon” debuted at #9 on the Billboard Bluegrass chart. The Plate Scrapers have provided direct support for Keller Williams\, Seldom Scene\, Larry Keel\, Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen\, Cabinet\, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades\, We Banjo 3 and The Kitchen Dwellers. \nBorn from the tradition of Bluegrass jams and potlucks\, The Plate Scrapers — Derek Kretzer (banjo)\, Andrew Jordan (guitar)\, Robbie Mann (fiddle)\, Jody Mosser (dobro)\, and Kevin Johnson (bass) — have been putting in the work and showcasing their love for the genre since 2014. They have since released 3 studio albums\, 3 live albums\, and have toured relentlessly up and down the east coast and into the midwest. In 2019\, they won the Podunk Bluegrass Telefunken Band Contest. They have been featured on WAMU Bluegrass Country Radio\, performed as an IBMA Official Showcase artist\, and their latest release\, Destination Horizon (2020) debuted at #9 on the Bluegrass Album Billboard charts with rave reviews from Bluegrass Today. \nAs a band that strives to maintain a healthy equilibrium between their diverse musical backgrounds and the traditional Appalachian sounds\, they have wowed audiences across the entire spectrum. This progressively minded Bluegrass act truly feels at home on any stage. They’ve provided direct support for bluegrass legends such as The Seldom Scene\, Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen\, and Larry Keel. On the other side of that coin\, they aren’t afraid to get weird at a late night festival slot and have become well known for their tastefully balanced and refreshingly diverse song-writing. Catch their live show and you’ll be sure to receive a full helping of hard-driving bluegrass favorites and heart-wrenching country ballads. Dig into their recorded originals\, however\, and you’ll find tracks ranging from thoughtful folk lyricism to gritty tales of harrowing adventure. \nThe Plate Scrapers passion for bluegrass and performing shines thru their music and performances. Such is evident in their musical prowess and creative chemistry on stage\, guaranteeing a unique and immersive experience each time. The band continues to be fueled by loyal fans and an unrelenting drive to continue moving forward…casually. \n“For starters\, they prove their prowess as it applies to their instrumental interplay. That’s quickly proven by the perky pace of the album opener\, Fly With Me\, the driving jam performance of Clangly\, and the energetic undertones of Ancient Mysteries. It’s that frenzy and finesse which stirs up a blustery blend even on many of the more melodic tunes\, although it’s never allowed to overshadow the sentiment found in those songs themselves. Love Song\, Last Train\, and Mountain find the band offering an emotional embrace\, one that rings with sweetness and satisfaction. The appeal is real and\, in turn\, allows for a contemporary connection that transcends style or genre.” \n-Bluegrass Today

It is to be one of substance\, deeper than the beauty of what someone may see on the surface of the skin. Regardless of body type or color\, the beauty really shines through in the intelligence\, the passions\, and ambitions. A tiara or ‘S’ on the chest isn’t necessary to prove how strong she is or to define her as a leader. She is one who believes in Love\, but has Love for the self first\, deserves respect of the Heart\, Mind\, Body\, and Soul\, and won’t allow anyone to play games with the Heart\, nor allow deception of the Soul. She is not perfect or flawless\, but it’s her imperfections that make her all the more unique and authentic. Unconditional Love to the core\, Trust\, Respect\, Loyalty and Equality are the most important to her. One of substance\, one who continues to break down walls\, and one who strives to defy stereotypes. She is strong and she is beautiful on the surface but even more gorgeous and stronger in the workings of her Mind\, Heart and Soul. She is of Feminenergy.

SUMMARY:The Broken String Band with Conrad Moore LIVE in the Roots at C+R
DESCRIPTION:Get tickets HERE. \nHailing from the Classic City – Athens\, GA – the Broken String Band is re-defining what it means to play folk music. With a live performance that combines alluring\, hard-hitting lyricism and iconic harmonies with thrashing banjo\, stand-up bass\, fiddle\, drums\, and the occasional accordion or flute\, the Broken String Band encapsulates the feel-good vibe of acoustic jamming with a dash of classical culture thrown in for good measure. Though the group fits the appearance of a traditional folk act as they take stage\, great surprise lies in their unexpectedly electrifying style of performing. They’ve got the touch and sincerity from the likes of the Everly Brothers mixed with the grunt and grime of any classic rock & roll band. \nConrad Moore is a North GA native singer-songwriter currently based in Asheville\, NC. His music falls into the ever-growing pot of Americana. With roots in folk storytelling which nod to the ups and downs of life\, love\, and the pursuit of happiness. All washed in hints of booze\, half-truths\, and hotel-rooms\, his lyrics personify Mother Nature and her dance with Appalachia. The human condition and blue-collar woes are often his muses. Although his songs have no shortage of heartbreak and day to day struggles. \nDoors open at 7:00PM\, show begins at 7:30PM. Call the store or email events@canopyandtheroots.com to reserve a VIP couch (parties of 2-4)\, booth (parties of 4-6)\, or table for two. The balcony is also available for reservation\, two tables for two or full party of 12.

This Virginia native has spent 25 years touring and trying to figure out the art of making music\, making community\, making a family\, and making all of that work. Franck has shared the stage with a broad list of bad asses from John Popper\, and Bobby Keys\, to Ray Wylie Hubbard\, and Randall Bramblett. Betsy is featured on (3) of Randall’s albums. She holds songwriting workshops and throws house concerts to raise awareness for specific community needs. She currently plays solo/duo and full band shows featuring her original music at festivals and small clubs across the country as well as performing as one of the lead singers in the rock band\, Bloodkin. Her latest release features (4) singles\, and a music video filmed during the recording process. She is currently compiling an album that features songs she has written over the last decade recorded with a multitude of various artists. \nWhether you catch a full band show\, or one of Betsy’s lyrically enchanting solo sets\, you will not be disappointed as this performer embodies impassioned performance at its best. \n_ \nUnable to be encapsulated by a single title\, Justin Brogdon is many forms of an artist….a singer\, a guitarist\, a songwriter\, an entertainer. Listeners become captivated by the familiarity of the unfolding story lines in his songs\, which share his perception of the daily tribulations in the lives which we all lead. Drawing from his own personal experiences with life\, this artist creates a storyboard of imagery… pain\, heartache\, love\, and passion. \nAlong with his soulful voice\, Brogdon’s engaging stage presence is distinctly his own\, and yet\, there’s a familiarity about him that you can’t quite put your finger on. Honesty and candor onstage create a rapport with his audience\, making him feel more like that of an old friend\, than an entertainer. The influences of Justin’s musical career are a by-product of his parent’s eclectic musical taste. As a child he was exposed to everything from his mother’s R&B albums\, to his fathers classic rock collections. These influences germinated Justin’s own blending of genres\, resonating in a vintage rock sound with modern\, infectious touch. \nAs the frontman of Athens\, GA based rock trio The Royal Velvet\, Brogdon draws on influences from bands like Black Sabbath\, Pink Floyd\, and Soundgarden to create an original rock sound that has been compared to Queens of the Stone Age\, Stereophonics\, and Kings of Leon.

SUMMARY:Hughes Taylor: Ballad of Big Bill McGuire Video Premier + Blues Show
DESCRIPTION:Get tickets HERE. \nThis is a special performance and cinematic premier of “Ballad of Big Bill McGuire” along with many favorites from Hughes Taylor. An old soul hailing from Macon Georgia USA\, Hughes Taylor was immediately drawn to the blues when he first picked up the guitar. Today an accomplished guitar player with a voice that is bigger than he is\, Hughes has developed his signature style: a fiery brand of blues-rock whose lineage stretches back to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Cream. \nHughes released his first full-length album of original songs\, Hear My Melody\, in the spring of 2016. After graduating with honors in marketing from University of North Georgia in late 2017\, Hughes released his sophomore album\, Restless\, just before marrying the love of his life in 2018. In the summer of 2019\, The Hughes Taylor Band released a blues album of classics that had influenced Hughes\, lovingly arranged and interpreted by him\, called Good Blues\, Fast. The Hughes Taylor Band is a blues-rock power trio reminiscent of the Jimi Hendrix Experience\, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble\, and Cream; inescapably influenced by Hughes’s hometown heroes\, the Allman Brothers. Consequently\, long improvisations and jams are a staple of any live Hughes Taylor Band performance. \nWith three studio albums and a live album under his belt\, Hughes released his fourth studio album\, Modern Nostalgia\, showcasing his growth as a musician\, songwriter\, and producer. Written during the pandemic and recorded at the legendary Capricorn Sound Studios\, the music on the new record is a sweet mix of blues\, blues-rock\, and southern rock; a modern successor to the great music that put Capricorn on the map many years ago. Modern Nostalgia is OUT NOW. \nConnect authentically to the artists by hearing them in our “speakeasy”-styled intimate listening room\, the Roots\, located underground beneath the Canopy social house. Hear the stories behind the songs as the artist(s) share their inspiration and even their heartaches. Doors open at 7:00pm; show starts at 7:30pm; VIP lounge with couches\, booths\, and tables are available. Reserve by emailing events@canopyandtheroots.com . SUMMARY:Jess Jocoy "Green & Gold" Americana LIVE in the Roots
DESCRIPTION:Purchase Tickets HERE. \nJess Jocoy makes atmospheric Americana for rainy days and twilight hours. It’s an ethereal sound with organic roots\, anchored by a longtime love of country music\, a storyteller’s nuanced delivery\, and a folksinger’s finesse. A sound that blurs the lines between genres\, creating its own blend of twang and texture along the way\, described as “the growth of an exciting songwriter\, destined to be one of the greatest of her generation” by Alan Cackett\, renowned Journalist and Broadcaster. \nRaised two hours south of Seattle\, Jess grew up beneath the drizzling skies and lush landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. “I’m a mountain girl at heart\,” she says\, nodding to the scenery that shaped albums like her acclaimed debut ‘Such a Long Way’ and the 2021 follow-up EP ‘Brighter Eyes’ with the woozy\, water colored beauty of her native Washington State. She created both records in her adopted hometown of Nashville\, a city whose songwriters had first captivated her attention as a child. \nGaining traction in 2018 after winning the Music Movers Competition held by Uber\, Jess opened for country music artist Chase Rice during CMA Fest. In 2019\, she appeared as a contestant on the NBC hit series ‘Songland’ (episode 103) where she pitched her original song ‘Easy’ to Kelsea Ballerini. That same year\, she was an official showcasing artist at the US AmericanaFest and invited to play Nashville’s historic Bluebird Café\, not once\, but five times; four Sunday Spotlight showcases and one writer’s round hosted by Musicians Corner (the last Spotlight showcase doubling as her album release party for Let There Be No Despair). \nJess has had airplay on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio Ulster with Eve Blair making her ‘Artist of the Week’ on her Late Show. This coincided with an invitation to play on the NPR Mountain Stage program with Kathy Mattea as host. Jess was voted as winner of the Americana-UK Twang Factor 2 and named as Caffè Nero Artist of the Month for November 2021\, her music played in over 750 coffee houses across the UK\, where 13 of her songs are still in playlist rotation.  Wrapping her first headlining UK Tour in June/2022\, Jess has secured her foothold as a name to know in Americana music both in the US and abroad. \nPurchase Tickets HERE.

SUMMARY:Daddy's Beamer with Sunhouse : Indie-Rock LIVE at Canopy and the Roots
DESCRIPTION:Purchase Tickets HERE. \n\n\n\n\nCharleston-based band Daddy’s Beemer (comprising lead vocalist/guitarist Brady Sklar\, multi-instrumentalist Dan Fetterolf\, bassist Wesley Heaton\, and newest addition\, drummer Payton Kutyla) formed in 2016 at Clemson University\, where they soon established their brand of dreamy\, buoyant indie rock. Influences from across the pond like Two Door Cinema Club\, The Kooks and The Cure mingled with the likes of REM and even Frank Ocean to form a left-field melting pot across their first EPs\, Daddy’s Beemer (2017) and Pucker (2018). Meanwhile\, they forged their identity on the road\, playing over 200 shows since their inception and heading as far afield as New York and SXSW\, all while building a rock-solid base in their home state of South Carolina. \nWhile their debut full-length\, 2020’s Denmark\, saw the band expand their recording capacity and flex their production muscles\, they now have their sights set on capturing the electric\, spontaneous energy of their live show as they record their upcoming second LP. -Mia Hughes \nMembers — \nBrady Sklar: Guitar / Lead Vocals \nWesley Heaton: Bass / Vocals \nDan Fetterolf: Guitar / Synth / Violin / Vocals \nPayton Kutyla: Drums \nStarted in the summer of 2022\, Sunhouse consists of Sawyer Rice (vocals\, lead guitar)\, Evan Tate (bass)\, Charlotte Rice (vocals\, rhythm guitar)\, and Brandon Sewell (drums). Blending their different influences from indie rock\, 80’s pop rock\, folk\, grunge and many more\, Sunhouse’s songs are familiar but fresh with lyrics that analyse and comment on the modern youth culture wound into catchy chord progressions and sweeping melodies. \nSunhouse released their their debut EP “When We Met” in fall of 2022\, a collection of the first six songs the band wrote after coming together. They’ve currently got their heads down writing and recording for their full length album planned for late 2023. \nDoors open at 7:00pm; Show begins at 7:30pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Feminenergy Queendom Harvest Festival:celebration of music\, art\, & business
DESCRIPTION:Get TICKETS here. \nQueendom Harvest is an endeavor to celebrate Feminenergy and Sisterhood of ALL women through the avenues of music\, art\, business\, education and community built on the five pillars of wisdom\, intuition\, empowerment\, authenticity\, and inclusivity. And to commemorate\, we will be releasing merch for those to rep during this Fall’s festival and beyond as Feminenergy happens on the daily. Join us for a multi-artist music and comedy lineup\, happy hour mixer\, women-owned business vendor market\, art exhibition\, and more! \nWhat does it mean to be one of Feminenergy?
